Position Summary

The Electrical & Instrumentation Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and supporting electrical and instrumentation systems within an industrial manufacturing environment. This role helps ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations by maintaining plant power distribution, process control equipment, field instruments, and related systems while following all company safety, quality, GMP, food safety, EMT, and SOP requirements.

Qualifications and Education

• Associate of Science degree in Electrical/Instrument Engineering Technology or a related two-year technical degree preferred.
• Equivalent work experience may be considered in place of formal education.
• HVAC certification is a plus.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an Electrical & Instrument Technician in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Experience in chemical manufacturing is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with field instruments, PLCs, DCS, pneumatic systems, conveying systems, compressors, heat exchangers, underwater strand granulators, agitators, chillers, fuel-fired furnace heaters, motors, and process equipment is desired.
• Ability to read, understand, and revise electrical drawings.
• Ability to support a twenty-four-seven plant operation, including overtime, call-ins, shutdowns, and special projects as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow all company safety guidelines, rules, regulations, plant safety programs, personal safety programs, and safe work practices.
• Perform all work safely and ensure equipment is operated and maintained properly without taking unnecessary risks to complete assignments.
• Follow all applicable Good Manufacturing Practices, quality standards, food safety guidelines, EMT requirements, and SOPs established by the company.
• Serve as an example of safety, quality, professionalism, and positive attitude when working with coworkers, contractors, engineers, and management.
• Interface with plant engineers and management regarding shutdowns, special projects, equipment issues, and improvement opportunities.
• Understand and follow written and verbal instructions, procedures, and assignments provided by management.

Maintenance and Technical Duties

• Maintain electrical and instrumentation components, plant power supplies, distribution systems, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and support field instruments, control systems, motors, electrical systems, and process equipment.
• Maintain required spare parts and support inventory needs for electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Prepare, implement, and complete preventive maintenance schedules to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
• Plan, procure, and implement approved in-plant modifications, improvements, and developments.
• Manage and coordinate electrical and instrumentation contract crews as assigned.
• Support shutdown activities, emergency repairs, and plant improvement projects.
• Perform other duties and assignments as directed by management.

Required Skills and Abilities

• Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical, instrumentation, pneumatic, and process control systems.
• Ability to read, interpret, and revise electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, DCS, field instruments, control loops, motors, power distribution, and plant process equipment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with coworkers, management, engineers, and contractors.
• Commitment to safe work practices, quality standards, and continuous improvement.

Work Environment and Schedule

This position works in an industrial manufacturing plant environment and must be able to support a 24/7 operation. The role may require overtime, call-ins, weekend work, shutdown support, and work around operating equipment, process systems, and plant utilities.

Schedule

Pay

What You’ll Do

• Set up and operate CNC machines and mills to support production requirements.
• Inspect parts for quality using calipers, micrometers, and other inspection methods.
• Monitor machines during operation and check parts to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Operate a laser marker and support marking requirements as needed.
• Saw slugs for low-volume jobs and change out saw blades when required.
• Stage completed parts for the next process, including parts washing, inspection, and FGR.

What We’re Looking For

Cleaning Parts: Utilize various cleaning methods such as solvent cleaning, ultrasonic cleaning, or sandblasting to ensure parts are free from contaminants and ready for use.
Inspection: Inspect parts for cleanliness and damage, ensuring they meet quality standards before they are used in assembly or manufacturing processes.
Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, including vapour blasters, ultrasonic cleaners, and other machinery used in the cleaning process.
Chemical Handling: Handle and properly dispose of cleaning solvents and chemicals, adhering to safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
Workspace Maintenance: Keep a clean and organized workspace, following safety guidelines and maintaining equipment in good working order.

Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail is essential to ensure all parts are thoroughly cleaned and inspected.
Physical Stamina: Ability to handle physical workloads, including lifting heavy objects and standing for long periods.
Safety Awareness: Understanding of safety procedures and protocols related to chemical handling and equipment operation.

1st shift

Pay- Starting $17.00 HR

1.    Read blueprints or job orders for specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, tooling instructions. Reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering specifications and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods and sequence of operations.

2.    Place and position work-piece and secure in holding devices, machine table or fixture.

3.    Verify in process and final conformance of work-piece to specifications using measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers.

4.    First-run set ups unassisted and within acceptable time limits.

5.    Selection of proper tools, equipment and materials.

6.    Complete production and quality paperwork as needed.

• Operate a CNC fiber laser safely and efficiently
• Load new sheets of material onto the machine
• Remove cut parts from the laser bed / ladder bed
• Sort, stage, and organize cut parts correctly
• Identify and verify material types, thicknesses, and job requirements
• Keep parts matched to the correct jobs and production flow
• Inspect parts for cut quality and report problems immediately
• Support material handling and movement using a forklift
• Keep scrap, drops, and usable remnants organized
• Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work area
• Help keep production moving with urgency and accuracy
