Temporary Data Entry Specialist

Location: Decatur, AL
Duration: 3 months or longer, with potential opportunity to become long term
Pay: $19.25 per hour
Schedule: Hourly, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, 40 hours per week (schedule may vary slightly based on business needs)

Position Summary

Under general supervision, the Temporary Data Entry Specialist performs a broad range of administrative and data support duties for customer service and warehouse operations. This role is responsible for processing orders, entering sales orders, recording receipts and receiving activity, supporting reporting needs, and entering testing results with a high level of accuracy. The position helps maintain efficient workflow, supports cross-functional coordination, and ensures data is entered and tracked in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work primarily with customer service and warehouse teams to support day-to-day order processing activities.
  • Process customer orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Enter sales orders and update order information in internal systems.
  • Perform high-volume data entry related to receipts, receiving, and order receipts.
  • Compile and enter data for reports, including testing results and related documentation.
  • Review entries for completeness and accuracy; identify, research, and help resolve errors.
  • Scan, file, and maintain records in accordance with internal procedures.
  • Support administrative tasks and other clerical duties as assigned.
  • Maintain prompt, regular, and dependable attendance.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous clerical, administrative, data entry, or relevant training preferred.
  • Experience supporting customer service, warehouse, order processing, or receiving functions is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, or equivalent preferred.
  • SAP knowledge is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures.
  • Proficiency in spelling, punctuation, grammar, and general English language skills.

Physical Demands and Work Requirements

  • Capable of lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to bend over, kneel, squat, stoop, twist, and climb stairs.
  • Ability to work an 8-hour shift and overtime as needed.
