Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a 30-minute duty-free lunch
Job Summary
PSI is hiring a dependable Shipping/Receiving Worker for a fabricating machine shop in Hartselle, AL. This position is responsible for supporting daily shipping, receiving, material handling, inventory movement, and shop organization. The ideal candidate will be reliable, safety-minded, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a manufacturing or machine shop environment. Forklift experience is helpful, but not required—we will train the right candidate on forklift operation if needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against packing slips, purchase orders, or other documentation.
- Prepare outgoing shipments, including labeling, packaging, wrapping, staging, and loading materials as needed.
- Load and unload trucks safely using forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, or other material-handling equipment.
- Move materials, parts, and finished goods to designated areas throughout the shop or warehouse.
- Check shipments for accuracy, shortages, damages, or discrepancies and report issues promptly.
- Maintain organized inventory, shipping supplies, staging areas, and workspaces.
- Assist with cycle counts, inventory checks, and general material tracking.
- Communicate with production, quality, and management teams to support timely movement of materials and completed orders.
- Follow company safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Perform additional shop, warehouse, or production support duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous shipping, receiving, warehouse, manufacturing, or machine shop experience preferred.
- Forklift experience is a plus, but not required; training will be provided if needed.
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when checking orders and documentation.
- Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced shop environment.
- Basic math, counting, and inventory skills.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials as required by the position.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the workday.
